Valentines at Eden Early Years- A week full of love & learning!
At Eden Early Years, we believe in celebrating love, kindness, and friendship every day - but Valentine’s Day gave us the perfect opportunity to make it extra special! Throughout the week, our children enjoyed a variety of Valentine’s-themed activities, helping them explore creativity, sensory play, and the joy of giving.
Creative Expression Through Arts & Crafts
Our little artists had a fantastic time making Valentine’s cards and decorations. Using red, pink, and purple paints, and heart-shaped paper, they created beautiful artwork to share with their families. These activities not only encouraged creativity but also helped develop fine motor skills through cutting, gluing, and painting.
A Valentines Photobooth
To capture the joy of Valentine’s celebrations, our teachers set up a magical photobooth decorated by the children with their own cut-out handprints, hearts, and other festive designs! Complete with fairy lights and heart-shaped glasses, the children had an amazing time posing for photos, making silly faces, and capturing special memories with their friends.
Sensory Play & Themed Tuff Trays
Sensory play is an important part of early childhood development, and this week, our Tuff Trays were transformed into Valentine’s-themed exploration stations! From heart-shaped paper and pink playdough to rose petal water play, the children had an exciting time discovering new textures, colours, and scents.
Valentine’s Potion Making
One of the highlights of the week was making Valentine’s love potions! Using a variety of natural scented ingredients along with some colouring the children experimented with different mixtures, creating magical, bubbling potions. This fun activity encouraged curiosity and hands-on learning in a playful, engaging way, allowing our children to develop skills of scientific exploration, as well as experimenting with various concoctions.
A Relaxing Valentine’s Spa
To add a touch of relaxation to the celebrations, we set up a Valentine’s-themed spa where the children enjoyed dipping their feet into warm, soothing water with fresh lemons and cucumber. They loved playing with bubbles and experiencing the calming effects of self-care in a fun and sensory-friendly environment.
Stories of Love & Friendship
Throughout the week, we incorporated Valentine’s-themed storytime, reading books that highlight love, kindness, and friendship. Some favorites included Guess How Much I Love You and How Do You Hug?, sparking meaningful discussions about emotions and caring for others.
Valentine’s Day isn’t just about hearts and crafts - it’s about spreading kindness and appreciating the people around us. We encouraged the children to practice small acts of kindness, from sharing toys to giving compliments and expressing gratitude. These simple moments help build emotional intelligence and foster a nurturing environment for all.
A Week to Remember!
It’s been a truly wonderful week at Eden Early Years, filled with creativity, exploration, and lots of love! We love providing our children with opportunities to learn through play and meaningful experiences, and Valentine’s Week was no exception.
We hope you all had a fantastic Valentine’s Day, and we can’t wait for more exciting adventures ahead!
